For churches & ministries
Plan your event
You've booked Crosseyed Comedy. Here's how to make it a night your church, and the guests they invite, won't forget.

The six essentials
If you only do six things, do these. Each one is explained in the full article and the church event guide.
- A stage, platform or raised area (the sanctuary platform works well)
- Clear sightlines so every guest can see the comedians
- A handheld microphone (preferred) or a quality lapel microphone
- Front lighting that clearly lights the comedians' faces
- Food, dessert and coffee service finished before the show
- No competing distractions: slides, background music, worship loops or announcements
Your planning timeline
As soon as you book
- Confirm the date, start time, show length and format.
- Name an on-site contact who can answer questions and make quick adjustments on the day.
- Send the venue address, plus parking and entrance details.
- Tell us about the night: an outreach, fundraiser, couples night, sermon kickoff or church family celebration, and about how many you expect.
- Share anything worth knowing: your church's name and pastor, inside jokes, or topics to steer clear of.
Four to six weeks before
- Share the church event guide with your pastor, event team and tech volunteers.
- Plan the room: the platform or a riser, seats turned toward the stage, front rows close.
- Build the order of the evening: fellowship and food first, then the show, with announcements, the offering and any invitation before or after.
- Start promoting. Use the announcement and social post below, and encourage every member to bring a friend.
The week of the event
- Reconfirm times, the on-site contact and phone numbers.
- Schedule a sound volunteer for the sound check and the whole show.
- Choose who will introduce the show and give them the introduction below.
- Set out connection cards, a QR code or a welcome table for first-time guests.
Event day
- Allow 45 to 60 minutes before doors open for arrival and a sound check.
- A quiet room for pre-show preparation (and prayer) is appreciated.
- Before the show: food service finished, slides and music off, doors closed, house lights dimmed.
- Hold announcements, raffles and drawings until before or after the comedy.
After the event
- Follow up with first-time guests within the week, while the night is fresh.
- Tell us how it went. Your feedback, and a review, helps other churches decide.
- Planning next year already? Check a date while it's fresh.
Make the most of the ministry moment
A comedy night can be one of the easiest invitations your church will ever offer. A little planning helps guests feel welcome and connected.
- Promote it as an invite night. Encourage members to bring a friend who doesn't attend church. Comedy is neutral, welcoming ground.
- Plan ministry moments around the show. A welcome, prayer, love offering, connection cards or a short invitation work best before the comedy begins or after it ends.
- Have a way to follow up. Connection cards, a QR code or a welcome table lets first-time guests take a next step.
- Think about families. If you offer childcare, let parents know in advance.

Planning questions
Can we hold the show in our sanctuary?
Yes. The sanctuary platform makes a great stage. Just move music stands and other equipment out of the sightlines, light the front of the platform, and turn off slides and worship loops during the show.
When should we take the offering or make announcements?
Before the comedy begins or after it ends. A pastor's welcome, prayer, love offering, raffle or invitation all work best outside the show, so the set can flow without interruption.
Is the show appropriate for kids?
Our comedy is always clean. Let us know who's coming when you book, especially for a couples night or an adults-only event, so we can bring the right show for the room. If you offer childcare, tell parents in advance.
What kind of microphone works best?
A handheld microphone is preferred. A quality lapel microphone or a wired handheld on a stand also works. Have a sound volunteer at the board for the sound check and the whole show.
We don't have a stage. Is that OK?
A riser of even 6 to 12 inches helps a lot, especially with more than 50 to 75 guests or round tables. If that's not possible, keep the front rows close and make sure every seat has a clear view. We're glad to help you plan the room.
How early will the comedians arrive?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes before doors open, for arrival and a sound check.
Who do we contact with questions?
